The history of Under Armour begins in 1996 when Kevin Plank, the head of the University of Maryland football teams, noticed that classic cotton T-shirts did not serve the needs of athletes as they quickly soaked and became heavy with sweat, making it difficult for them. So he designed the prototype 0037 with a soft and elastic construction that helped manage the moisture produced.
